Keymo adapter12/25/2023 ![]() If your Keymo adapter and or muzzle device seems off maybe a moment of pause first before sending it. Just wanted to share the experience with everyone. I'll send it all in and see what happens. Given the nature of what this equipment is and the pressures involved and all that its amazing how well it does work when advertised. Not mad, sad yes but no sense in getting all upset and pointing fingers etc. I feel pretty good they won't leave me high and dry. Or maybe no warranty since it wasn't their mount. Id hate to have to wait on another tax stamp again. Hopefully its easy as send it in and the serialized part of the tube is still good to go. They said to send the adapter in but I'll also send in the muzzle device too for them to take a look at.įrom the YHM side of things we shall see what they tell me. I wonder if this particular key micro wasn't in spec and let the mount go like that? Maybe I was just lucky the first few times I used it. I've also used this R9/Keymo combo on some of my other hosts without issue. I had noticed it seemed to take less of a turn on this particular key micro muzzle device and adapter to hit the taper than it does with any of my other muzzle devices. I should hear from them hopefully tomorrow.ĭead Air said that will happen if the can isn't screwed tight against the taper. Being east coast I figured they were probably already done for the day when I sent it. I put in emails to YHM and Dead Air this afternoon. It hit me it was possibly the mount that failed, let the can go and of course that last round went through the can out of alignment and launched it. That's when I noticed one of the locking lugs on the Keymo adapter appeared to have sheared off. I then spun it around to see how bad the stack looked and yep, really shredded. My heart sank at first when I saw the end cap. Had to get the range officer to shut down the firing line so we could go retrieve it from the grass., these pictures show the aftermath. I have a key micro muzzle device on that upper if anyone is wondering. Had literally just took a glance at the rear of the can, still looked good, started to shoot mag #4 and 3 rounds in the can launched itself right off the mount. Shot 3 mags worth through my CMMG RDB upper without any issue just like usual. I've always appreciated the fact that with the Keymo it was a visual thing and I didn't have to risk burning myself. I'm usually paranoid constantly checking if the locking ring has budged when shooting any of Keymo equipped cans and burnt myself a few times checking the direct threaded ones. I've shot this setup before without issue so it really shocked me when it happened. ![]() My R9 and Keymo adapter decided to take a flight down range today. I'm just sharing my experience so it hopefully helps the next guy. Right off the bat I want to be clear this isn't a bash on anyone thread. I hoped I never had to type one of these posts but unfortunately this morning my R9 decided to go downrange today. The can is repaired and Dead Air took good care of me on their end.
